Mark Ruffalo On Lack Of Workplace Safety At Amazon Despite Jeff Bezos Earning More During COVID-19: ‘Be As Generous With Employees As You Are With Philanthropy’
Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, online shopping has seen a surge. People have been buying more and more things online instead of shopping in physical stores and risk being exposed to COVID-19. Recently, Robert Reich, former United States Secretary of Labor, wrote an article for The Guardian wherein he talked about the job complaints he often receives from workers. He cited one such distressing mail from a worker at one of Amazon’s Whole Foods delivery warehouse in New York, who wrote about the problems they face. The article also mentions that thanks to COVID, Jeff Bezos became even richer.  Now, Mark Ruffalo has called out Amazon, asking them to be generous with their employees amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mark Ruffalo is often known for airing his views on Twitter. He often tweets about social issues and is never hesitant to call out those in power. The article by Robert Reich mentioned that the Amazon employee said that safe social distancing is not being followed and that when they express their discomfort to the management, they get yelled at, or are told that they can take a leave of absence without pay. Mark Ruffalo reacted to this article, and wrote, “Dear  @amazon, be as expansive and generous with your employees as you are with philanthropy and you will have done something profoundly good.”
